My interest in art began many years ago with my love of French 19th and early 20th century paintings which continue to influence my own creative process even though my interest has widened to include more varied and contemporary artists. 
 

Colour plays an important role in my work as I believe that mood and emotional response is evoked through the use of colour,  be it strong, vivid, muted or even monochrome, all of which elicit immediate and varying emotional reactions in the viewer. 
 

My interest lies primarily in the human figure and although I have worked in portraiture my preference is the figure within a narrative which to some extent remains indeterminate, leaving the viewer to create meaning from their own experience.

After doing a BA in History of Art at Winchester School of Art, and then an MA at University of Southampton I went to the London Academy of Art to do Fine Art and then to do a part time course at London Fine Art Studios.  From there I went to the Royal Drawing School and then on to the Heatherley School of Fine Art where I did the Portrait Diploma and am now in my 3rd year doing the Post Diploma course, fo which I was awarded a bursary.
