In Echoes of Millennia, the artist draws inspiration from a type of folk architecture in Guangdong, China, as well as tile-based ceramic art and traditional Chinese dramatic characters. Observing how theatrical motifs on rooftops have been weathered by sun, wind, and the passage of time—leaving behind a mottled imprint of history—sparked a profound artistic impulse. After a century or two of gradual change, these surfaces reveal a raw, unrefined quality that moved the artist, prompting a desire to reimagine this historical resonance in a contemporary light.
