This portrait of a friend was painted entirely from life, over four sessions, and to scale of life. I aimed to capture her vibrant personality through the bold pink background, a colour echoed in her lips. The swinging earring, almost dancing with movement, was a deliberate choice a nod to her profession as a singer, where rhythm and motion are everything.
