Acrylic paint and cold wax finish
h: 80 w: 70 d: 2 (cms).
The artwork was inspired by my personal life experiences at the moment of creation and also by the ancient archetypal wisdom behind the tarot card The Wheel of Fortune. The mid-turn motion of the figure is a symbol of the cyclical nature of life and the shifts of fortune. I made this painting amidst a personal crisis in my life. It was painted as a sign of my faith that circumstances may easily turn around for the best in a glimpse of an instant. I believe this portrait is a talisman that brings positive shifts, reminding us the potential of positive change and the promise of new beginnings. The mixed media collage of old letters, newspapers and documents from the early 1900s is a tiny window into another era. Its faded ink and ornate script is a reminder of personal histories long gone and the ever-changing nature of human existence. The entire piece is finished with a layer of cold wax, giving the artwork a soft sheen with ethereal quality.
