this painting is part of an ongoing series by Meme Marey depicting the female body in various ways , her pose and application of paint is central to her emotional appearance she stands alone facing away from the viewer because its too painful to look directly in front and engage eye contact Although she is standing ,a pose that can be seen as defiant , instead of reclining or sitting she is vulnerable. exposed naked and alone turning away from the truth , the pain like Eve in "The expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden "by Massacio The viewer doesn't know her story in the way we know the story of Eve.The viewer can only see this vulnerable woman standing motionless and wonder why her body is painted with expressive gestures, bold and full of energy giving her form through shapes and blocks of colour overlaid with lines that crisscross her body over and over again forming her shape but also alluding to ropes or thread, tattered garments of what was or still is
