'Sleeping Mimi' was inspired by a young Chinese artist who I met whilst on a residency in Paris. Although very hard working and dedicated I wanted to capture the very tranquil, peaceful quality she had whilst she was sleeping. Working from my original source material the painting was scaled up and executed in many layers of transparent oil colour glazes on canvas.
