Textile collage with embroidery

This cheetah walks away from us, in a dystopian landscape, towards a threshold of extinction. Inspired by my time living in Kenya 10 years ago, I have attempted to capture the sinuous movement of this spectacular cat. The image has been created using hundreds of fabric pieces. Each piece has been chosen for the colour, tone, and direction of pattern in the printed design. Once the collage was completed free motion embroidery using multiple thread colours was used to add detail and texture.
