Drawing is my passion - for the immediacy of the process, the simplicity of its materials and the modesty of its ranking alongside the high-art status of painting. My work is figurative and has often been concerned with the female experience, so the domestic connotations of drawing in the art historical canon are conceptually symbiotic with the medium and the message. My work has often drawn on allegorical or narrative elements to explore themes of identity, memory, aging, loss, working class histories and motherhood.

Rosmond is a figurative artist born in Wales but based in London, who primarily, although not exclusively, works on paper in dry media such as graphite, charcoal, conté and pastel. Drawing is key to her practice with traces of the process left visible to resist illusionistic readings of the work and to initiate conceptual enquiry in the viewer.

A retired university lecturer, she gained a BA in French and a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages before graduating decades later with a BA First Class Honours and a Masters in Fine Art Critical Practice from Central St Martins as a part-time mature student. 

During the 1990s she showed widely including in a touring Arts Council feminist exhibition and had several small solo shows, notably one at the TUC Headquarters in London. Since 2021, after a twenty-year gap in making artwork, she has shown work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition,  The Society of Women Artists, The Pastel Society, The Society of Wildlife Artists, The 2023 Wales Biennial, The Green & Stone Gallery, The Ruth Borchard Self-portrait Prize (online), and Chelsea Art Society.
