fired clay (stoneware)
h: 31 w: 36 d: 17 (cms).
My clay pieces are hand-built using slabs and coils. They are non-functional vessels reflective of place and past. I work with the clay in methods I use to draw with paper which results in the clay being cut, torn, beaten and layered. The process becomes hypnotic at times and there is a point where the clay becomes like a sheet of fabric that can be wrapped and embossed. I use oxides and stoneware glazes and each piece is fired several times to obtain the raw visual effect I seek. Lime Kiln vessel makes reference to the historic lime kilns of South West Wales.
£600 (As exhibited.)
