This painting is inspired by the modern-day habit of photographing meals. Whether at a fine-dining restaurant or enjoying a homemade spread, many feel compelled to capture the moment before the first bite. For food lovers, these images serve as more than just visual records; they preserve the feeling of a particularly delicious or meaningful meal. While some may roll their eyes at those who photograph their food in restaurants, this piece serves as a reminder of the value in appreciating life’s small pleasures, such as a well-prepared meal, and doing so unapologetically. The reference photo was staged with the help of friends, following a visit to M&S and time spent preparing the food. Fittingly, everyone waited until the photo was taken before sitting down to enjoy the meal, mirroring the moment captured in the painting.
