Statement

Kaidy Lewis attended art college in St Albans and secured a place at Chelsea College of Art in 1989.  She chose to train as a nurse practitioner and had a successful career in clinical development and health promotion.  She believes this hinterland was the right decision as the artist prefers to immerse herself in the environment to fully engage and interpret the ecology she attempts to paint. Kaidy uses semi abstraction to reveal current societial issues, in part to process and understand personally but also as a way to reveal, prompt and discuss serious matters. This current interest in female attributes and rights is stirred by living in the USA for the past five years. Kaidy practices as an Artist full time. Half of her time is devoted to a Residency in Art for the elderly at Forest at Duke which is affiliated to Duke University N.C. The other half is spent painting in her studio for FRANK Gallery, Chapel Hill.
